Burglar alarm system, also known as intrusion alarm system, is a system designed to detect intrusion, or any unauthorized entry, into restricted areas in buildings or any open areas such as driveways or backyards. Burglar alarm systems are widely used in residential and commercial properties for protection against burglary or property damage, as well as personal protection against intruders.

Burglar alarm systems can be compatible with CCTV systems to automatically record the activities of intruders, and may interface to access control systems for locking and unlocking doors electrically. Users receive alert through mobile phone apps and thus can take necessary actions remotely from anywhere in the world.
IoT - Internet of Things
Internet-of-Things (IoT) is a network of Internet connected devices/ objects for data collection and sharing. The data is collected from wired or wireless sensors directly using low-power wide area network technologies, like LoRA, Sigfox, or NB-IoT. Data is stored in a server, physical or cloud, for analysis and reporting purposes.
Workplaces can be automated to be more energy efficient. Occupancy sensors can sense if a room or space is occupied, helping to automatically control the room lighting and atmosphere.
Public washrooms can be monitored by a variety of sensors. Janitors
will then be informed when to refill soap or toilet paper, when to
empty trash cans and when to clean washrooms without checking them one by one in the physical setting. Users will also know the number of vacant stalls available so as to avoid long queues.
The above are just some examples of IoT applications for illustration. In fact, the number of IoT applications is growing. When devices are able to communicate with each other, this will create a flow of information from device to device; when devices begin to communicate among themselves, the possibilities are simply endless.
